Internet State of the Union: Live Updates

Tonight, February 5, 2019, President Donald Trump gave the annual State of the Union address. In what may be a world’s first, I made the first political cartoons live and on the fly as the speech was happening.

The event has ended, but here is a look back at the action as it unfolded in The Birwin Report world.

Stacey Abrams has just wrapped up the Democratic response. She was absolutely the right choice. I think she absolutely nailed it and masterfully set the tone for the Democrats going into the 2020 election.

And there you have it, folks. It got a little weird, but we made it.

As DJTJ and Eric watch back at home, they became alarmed at their father’s talk of pulling out of the INF treaty.

10:00 p.m. ET

Grace seems like a happy, good kid. Cancer sucks!

9:59 p.m. ET

President Trump mentions infrastructure improvements in his budget plans.

9:41 p.m. ET

Meanwhile back at home, Baby Junior and Eric don’t understand the seriousness of the immigration discussion. President Trump is now talking about the wall.

9:28 p.m. ET

The president appears to take a dig at the Russia probe without mentioning Mueller by name. “Partisan investigations” as he calls them.

Now on to criminal justice reform. 

9:20 p.m. ET

Talking about all his accomplishments, the president seems very low energy tonight. At the very least he laid off the speed.

There seems to be an issue with the president’s tie.

Ladies and gentlemen, the internet POTUS has arrived. Looks like he’s coming out swinging.
